I’m looking for the right image gallery software. I want it to be self-hosted. I have no desire to access it outside of my network or allow other accounts to use it. I’m just looking for the best application.

There’s a big list at the Awesome Self-Hosted Archive on Github, but I’m wondering if any experienced Lemmings have found one that is just right.

I’m looking for an image viewer that allows me to specify which images I want to cycle through by which folder they’re in and play them in a slideshow, randomized. I really hate when videos get cut off by slideshow software, so I want one that will let videos finish before advancing.

I’m probably going to be hosting this on Linux.

Any suggestions?

I’ve had excellent success with Digikam

I ultimately went with Pigallery2. It seems to work exactly right for this application. It cycles through photos and videos, doesn’t cut off the video to move on to the next item, and doesn’t bother with a ton of photo management chrome over top of the image. So far I highly recommend it!
