The rope around the nipples makes me super uncomfortable…

    Also the purple knee!

If you look closely the ropes around her nipples are specifically placed to not clamp the nipple. There’s just a weird dimple being made in her breast because her partial weight is tied to a central point behind her shoulderblades. And yeah the knee looks to be having a bad time, but nothing dangerous at least.

Fair points! It’s just so freaky to me, I love my nipples and wouldn’t want to lose them like that 😂 This is definitely an art that requires a lot of trust, but it looks super intricate and definitely evokes a lot of thought and discussion 😉

          Nipples are surprisingly resilient 🙃

Shibari as a whole is specifically meant to be artistic and photogenic. If you’re doing it in the bedroom it’s probably not going to be exceptionally intricate or dangerous. The people doing these ties are going to be very experienced and have safety measures place to prevent injury. In this specific photo if you look at the models ear there’s a loop that will release the tension of the ropes around her neck in the event of a catastrophe for example.

      They do, don’t they!

They’re usually very carefully laid on the face, and mostly feels like a light pressure. But they do amazing things to the mind and senses!

Covering the eyes and the ears makes for a surprisingly efficient almost hood-like sensory deprivation, where the noise from the ropes and the sensation of it’s small movements drown out almost any other sensation.

Also, when laying the rope you can do mental play to imply anything from objectification, dehumanisation, being made ugly, to the most gentle and loving cocooning.

Most of my partners with the same look as the model are spacing somewhere between near-overwhelm and bliss.

I don’t think I’ve ever quite considered rope as a sensory deprivation tool before. That’s an interesting thing to think about.

That would be interesting, not really hearing much except the rope and just focusing on the sensations!
