I’ve been posting daily in c/unbirth (yes, I know my kink is weird), and would like to moderate the community.
I know this Lemmy instance hasn’t existed for too long, but I was hoping to improve the community in question by adding an icon, banner, and forming a set of rules that hasn’t been copy-pasted from the unbirth subreddit. The current mod is an admin who hasn’t posted on their account in six days, which I know isn’t that big a timeframe in the grand scheme of things.
I figured asking this question here rather than dming the current moderator of the community would be a good idea in order to help people in similar situations know what course of action would be the best one to take if they want to pick up on an abandoned community in the future.

You’re best bet would probably be to message the moderator or maybe post within that community. If it is abandoned you will likely need to talk to the owner of this instance.
You need to post or comment within the community you are interested in. That is the only way existing mods of that community can add you by seeing you within the community.
