I love how they’re canonically called monsters, even though there are no other types of animals in the Pokémon world.
The real monsters in Pokémon are the trainers, forcing pokemon to live in claustrophobic little carrying canisters, and forcing them to fight each other for the trainers entertainment.
We have pokemon trainers in the real world too. We normally throw them in prison for fighting dogs and roosters against each other.
