To be fair, the US says pretty much the same.
“We are not parties to the [Rome] statute - we do not recognise this,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
Yeah, because they withdrew their signature from the Rome Statue, the statute that describes what war crimes are, Russia didn’t want to be a part of that. Very telling.
