I wear it because the gear is mostly just very creative and oozing with flair.
It gives an enormous amount of flair to your wardrobe and I love the designs that companies come up with these days.

“The core idea is that (at least in North America and Europe), people who are considered “white” have privilege”
What countries in Europe are we talking about?
As a POC from a european country I have never felt discriminated based on the color of my pigment and have had the exact same opportunities as the people who would classify as “white”.
I would classify the discrimination in Europe more based on the fact if you are an immigrant and the specific country of origin.
The above is frowned upon much more.
Even then diversity can also be reached to make sure to target more people from different countries who then bring different cultures to a forum if we talk just about Europe.
It is impossible to talk about Europe as 1 entity, there are so many different countries and cultures within Europe, which is diverse in itself.
It is just (hopefully) some food for thought.
1 set of games that felt ahead of their time were Pokemon Gold/Silver and Crystal.
They had so many interesting mechanics and mechanics that (for some reason) were not introduced in the later games that it almost feels like robbery.
Probably even more, but for me it is still the best designed pokemon game to date and really ahead of it’s time.
It also felt like one of the last games that was oozing with the passion that the developers put in it.
Decoupling from Reddit has been easier than I thought.
Am actually rotating between Lemmy instances and Kbin to read the articles and thoughts in between my workday and it works like a charm.
It also really helps that I pavlovd myself to associate Reddit with garbage and instantly make the connection to how they see and treat their userbase.
It made me open reddit only once during the last days.
I also really hate this.
Literally freeloading of the work of developers for their mod tooling.
How incredibly tone deaf can one be.
Crying that 3rd party apps make money and the time of “freeloading” is over only to try to literally freeload on the applications of 3rd parties.
Reddit can still and again just fudge off.
Smart idea.
Reddit will jack the prices again when they see fit.
Reddit also wins with this pricing because they are gonna pocket the cash.
Reddit will limit ‘Recommend’ and NFSW content to its official app. >
And ohw yeah you are gonna get less content for your subscription. It is all in bad faith.
Than the people who still use Reddit can leave or just suck it up.
I expect the people who actually gave a shit are long gone than already at that point, so the community can then shout into the void if they would disagree.
After slandering the Apollo Dev, Steve now starts to slander the entire userbase.
I am gonna be honest but instances going down and losing communities could have the same probability as Reddit shutting down Subreddits just because they feel like it.
I understand your concern, but I think it would first be wise to let some communities flourish and look how it holds up in the grand scheme of things.
That is awesome.
First thing I do when the blackout is over is export my history, edit my comments, delete my acc and buh bye Reddit forever.
I can understand where mstdn.social is coming from and it is an “uneasy” situation. But the fact is that you have a choice here in which with whom you communicate.
The irony though of Reddit discussing to stay on Reddit and actually comply with the Autocratic leadership it has.
True freedom is the ability to spout nonsense on a forum, label a community the way you see it, call the people illiterate and see the moderators as authoritarian without getting punched in the face.
Ohwww the irony.
I literally only use discord to voice chat with my friends once a year when we are gaming.
Do people use it for other stuff?
Jerboa on List mode is closer to RIF than I thought.
It is very pleasant on the eyes and the no BS ui is very appealing.
This should be bumped.
The smaller/niche communities is what made Reddit interesting.
When those eventually decide to pack and the only vibrant communities are the meme subreddits etc then you would probably see a drop in usage.
I agree. I never moderated a subreddit because I have seen what vitrol people spew at moderators.
I actually thought that moderators were getting compensated and I was extremely baffled when I heard they weren’t. I cannot understand why someone would take that role to just get piled on day by day.
The projection part is more focused on the people who scream (1 of my favorites); “What is gonna happen is that after 48 hours people come back, suck it up and install the new app”
I can understand the sentiment and alot of people will probably do that, that is a choice one makes.
I do think that the power users and/or people who contribute to the community are looking elsewhere at some point.
I also don’t have an illusion that Reddit implodes overnight and I will be suprised if people will leave en masse after 48 hours.
But I do know and that is a sentiment that I keep saying; Reddit will rail it’s userbase one way or the other. They already made it clear that they keep monetizing until they are profitable but companies always want more and more. So you are effectively getting railed eventually and continuously.
The amount of projecting going on in some subreddits the past days is telling.
People are quite afraid that in fact the “leavers” won’t come back.
Spez after joining the Fediverse;
“Have we given consideration to how much our efforts here might inadvertently contribute in some very small way to forwarding those negative social agendas?”
Not an admin or founder but really want to react (sorry for the long post I am also not as wise as the post may seem ;)).
I really think this isn’t a rabbit hole you want to dig to deep in.
I do like these questions or cases because it is a really good subject to philosophize about.
In another topic someone had the same gist and this was my response;
"I can understand your reasoning, but would your stance be different if you didn’t know the political spectrum/ideology of the devs when joining lemmy or something else?
Just because you don’t see something doesn’t mean that it isn’t there.
Have you vetted every single mod, admin, developer of every online community you joined to see if they are up to your (political) standards?"
I think the question is valid because there are indeed possibilities for the devs or the main/biggest lemmy instance to gain traction and spread the views that they have.
On a different note would it be any different if we would take Reddit and it’s subreddits for example?
I am (very) progressive and there are subreddits on Reddit who well…aren’t. Those don’t align with me politically nor do they align with my view of the world. If Reddit as a whole would gain traction than the risk is there that subreddits and their ideology could be spread wider than in the confined spaces of the site.
Every post I put on the platform itself is engagement and could pull in people who could be vulnerable to ideologies that are different than mine and could be harmful for others.
Does that mean that we as a community are partaking in forwarding the agendas of people who can do “harm”? I would say yes.
But I would also say that a online community is a reflection of society.
I think it is good to have boundaries about what is acceptable, if for one there would be a situation that a possibility would arise that every instance is forced to have a “Stalin was the victim” community or post etc, than questions should be asked.
I don’t know how much power the dev’s have regarding the instances that aren’t theirs so I cannot calculate the risk as of now.
I literally sold the consoles I had and all my games with it because games became shittier each year.
Imagine having to pay 80+ dollars/euros for a game that isnt even the “finished” product.
I’d rather just save my money and spend it on things where I don’t get absolutely railed as a consumer.
