No problem, have a nice day :)
In that case, your keyboard is most likely broken. Perhaps you could still have it fixed under warranty? You can enter the laptop serial number on https://support.hp.com to check if the warranty is still active.
Ah no worries mate, im happy to help :)
Have you tried F3, Escape and Delete?
And, just curious, how do you log in to ubuntu if your keys don’t work?
(Sometimes the bios key is F10 or F12, so if F2 doesn’t work just redo the steps but try those keys instead.)
(If you press the arrow keys and nothing happens, your keyboard is broken.)
Once you are there you should see an option to “set an administrators password”. click on that and press a key that you know doesn’t work. if nothing is inputted into the password field then the keyboard is definently broken.
to exit the password input field simply press esc, and then you can navigate to exit, and select exit discarding changes.
If you got to step 5 and everything worked then it is definently an issue with the OS.
Honestly OP, weird keyboard issues, especially on a laptop are very often hardware failures.
As for driver downloading software, Linux works far different from Windows in this sense. Linux drivers usually come packaged with the kernel and are otherwise downloaded through the repository of your relevant distribution, so you don’t need any third party software.
You could boot into the bios and test the keys there. If they still don’t work then its a hardware issue. Do you know how to get into the bios?
Edit: Also OP, if you do have issues in the future, please post them on https://lemmy.world/c/techsupport as this isn’t really the right community.

VRchat is like this but on steriods.
Im always impressed by how well Yatzhee’s format holds up. Over a decade later his reviews are still really funny, while also getting to the point. One of those og content creators that has aged really well imo.

Happy to help! Glad that solved your problem :)
Hey OP, this isnt really the right instance for tech support, i suggest you post here: https://lemmy.world/c/techsupport
That being said, it seems most likely to me that step 5 indeed caused your issue, judging by the fact that Windows is complaining about file permissions, which you changed. Have you checked exactly which file you changed the permissions on?
If you can find that file i recommend simply undoing the changes in step 5.
Just repeat the steps from step 5 up to 5.4, where you should see a little box that says change permissions next to disable inheritance. You should then see a button to enable inheritance. enable it.
Then, change back the owner to Administrator and readd any removed users from the permissions section.
click apply, reboot your pc, and the problem should be fixed.
Thanks :)
Where can i find the banlist?
Yeah, perhaps i should’ve been clearer in my og comment. What im referring to as content that matters is stuff like snippets of code, solutions software/hardware problems, useful life advice. Obscure content that isn’t found anywhere else on the web.
If you look at what drives the largest amount of traffic on Reddit, its all reposted content from various other sites, nothing we can’t find elsewere. I wouldn’t mind that type of content being removed as it can be found elsewhere. I just care about niche stuff.
Please don’t delete your Reddit account. It is of minimal impact to Reddit. Keeping a database of users and their posts is far less resourceintensive then actually serving them, Reddit won’t care.
It does however screw ppl over when googling questions. We all know that adding site:reddit.com in google search is pretty much a must at this point when searching for solutions to obscure problems. Delete that and a bunch of potentially useful info is lost forever, and Reddit soldiers on without a care in the world.
If you insist upon deleting all your Reddit data, please archive it first, so valuable info isnt lost forever.
Cool, hopefully modders can take advantage of this, it’d be cool to see what kinda stuff folk can come up with.
