Honestly, between Batman and iron man, aside from the obvious gadgets that don’t exist, it’s more believable than any other “superhero” story out there. A rich guy dresses up in a costume and beats up “criminals” (the poors) for fun and entertainment, rather than use their vast wealth to fund programs that would actually help society.

Add in a bit of masochism, and that’s basically America in a nutshell.

Beat people when they have no option other than to rob, or steal, just to survive.

  • Yeah. That last bit of your edit is the entire reason why I doubt any of the numbers … Him scoring higher than me, that’s kind of expected.

Bluntly, if I’m actually in the top 2%, then I don’t want to live on this planet anymore… Because I’m downright goddamned removed at times.

I don’t mean removed as a slur, I mean, I exhibit traits of someone who is mentally held back (aka mentally removed).

    Don’t at me.

Edit. Dunno why that word is now “removed” … Some automod thing I’m sure; I’ll let you all fill in the gaps.

As they say, there’s two kinds of people in the world, those that can extrapolate from incomplete data.

  • They can where I live. While I might “own” the land, I’m in Canada and there’s a very specific and technical legal definition, I never “own” anything. The land is owned by the crown, and we lowly peons get to “buy” (or lease in perpetuity for a one time set cost, plus property taxes every year) the land we live on.

The Crown, and by extension, the government acting on behalf of the crown, can do whatever the fuck they want, including telling you what you can, and cannot do with your land, and whether you can turn it into a trash heap.

Many other places are the same, though, not as technically/legally screwed; I don’t have to look any further than city zoning to know that similar (in effect, not implementation) rules exist for everyone. Zoning means you can’t just turn your plot of land into an industrial manufacturing operation because you feel like it. That’s the government telling you what you can (or cannot) do with your property. There’s plenty more examples and rules that limit people’s freedoms as to what they can do with “their” property, if you do any research at all.

    Don’t be such a spoon.

  • Bad take, honestly.

It says you have the right to a job; therefore if you want one, you should be able to get one.

Americans have the right to bear arms, not everyone is walking around strapped. It’s just not the case… And yes, there’s many that do carry a firearm when they’re out and about doing normal daily tasks, but it most certainly isn’t everyone. You have the right to do it, you are not forced to do a thing you have the right to do.

Equating the right to a job with a claim that jobs are necessary is simply false.

  • My city has bylaws for that sort of thing. I can’t let my grass turn into a jungle either. That’s also a bylaw. Shoveling snow into the street? Guess what, bylaw.

Don’t need an HOA full of overbearing Karen’s to Lord over me about what color I painted my garage on top of the fairly loose bylaws that I also need to abide by.

At least with bylaws they’re enforced by public workers, not Karen from next door.

  • I did an online one in the early days of the Internet, and scored a 137. I have zero faith it has any accuracy. My buddy also did it and got a 145, I believe his is above mine but still, no faith that the numbers are correct.

IQ tests are deeply and inherently flawed, usually based on the fact that you can both quickly read, understand the intent of the question, and respond with whatever the writer of the test feels is correct in a timely fashion.

And if you don’t realize how much of what I just wrote is subjective based on lived experience, and specific parameters about you that have nothing to do with how intelligent you are, then congratulations, you’re probably above average.
