  • To be honest I haven’t paid enough attention to know his full platform. I agree that the corporations and government often align and it does not benefit the people. Anti-vax? I am not vaccinated, but I don’t know if being vaccinated is some terrible thing. I think it being forced down our throats as the only solution while not being properly medically vetted is a problem. I am not convinced nobody should have it though. So i don’t know. Truthfully, I don’t have a lot of faith that any single political regime can make the change necessary to really improve our lives as long as most normal people are fighting over social issues and picking sides.

  • Feels like the majority of the internet is people who are just looking for outrage, stupid puns, and terrible memes - all the same shit that has made reddit suck over the years.

I joined this instance even though I mostly don’t agree with the politics. I actually don’t like trump and don’t understand why anyone sees him as anything other than a clown. He just says shit.

With that said, it seems like most (not all) of the people here are least reasonable enough to have a discussion.

On the other hand progressive/social justice people are overwhelming intolerant and allow basically 0 discussion. You’re with them or you’re not. They can’t see they’re part of the problem and I wish they’d just shut the fuck up already and point their hate at the corporations that have grown to big to allow people willing to do the work to grab their fair share. Distracted fighting each other while “crony capitalists” keep running their game. Fucking stupid.

  • It’s actually not. The fediverse is supposed to be pretending ideas that aren’t in line with yours are evil and the people who have them are incapable of reason or morality? That only perpetuates the divide. Truly evil people are a much smaller percentage of the population than the internet implies. Let’s actually talk about things openly and work together peacefully. Don’t assume you’re arguing with some evil bastard with horrible intentions. Assume you’re arguing with someone whose perspective has been shaped by their actual experiences and isn’t so dense they’ll never budge. Assume ignorance and not hate, but even if it’s hate it’s possible that they don’t even understand why. It’s something people can work with. Maybe then humans can accept MORE types of people than just the ones that are popular at the time. If you don’t think that’s a better future maybe you should look inwardly.

  • Every industry has done all they can to tap into our data because it’s easy money. Most people can’t imagine how something as unremarkable as every action, thought, or word of their daily lives could be aggregated in a way that could potentially restrict or hurt them in the future so it’s impossible to stop. To them it’s just a (minor) cost of “innovation.”

Personally, I’ll be consulting my local poor people on how to keep my car running for years to come with duct tape and wd40.
