Any critiques, desire for clarity, outright hatred, whatever have you. I will respond the best I can.

I know there’s been some blowback on some of the policy updates but it’s been difficult to really explain fully that the restrictive content policy is temporary, this community was very unmanaged for a time and it had to be reigned in somehow and with the limited tools at disposal the temporary policy changes were made.

Here’s a comment that also explains a little bit behind the decisions made recently as well.

For community mods, we have a community mod coord matrix group chat now. Feel free to DM about it.

Also, there’s another ongoing discussion regarding SFW communities on lemmyNSFW here.

Not specifically about the instance but people only here to solicit customers for onlyfans cheapen the place, it would be nicer if there was a community for selling, and the rest didn’t allow that.

As a content creator, asking us to post for free everywhere is disrespectful. I think not allowing advertising in the subs is reasonable. Not allowing “sellers” in certain subs at ALL is inherently exploitative. There isn’t enough OC content and you need to give creators a reason to post here.

Most people prefer that communities have control over this individually as many communities rely on content creators for a steady flow of content. While i understand wanting more “authentic” content, if we ban content creators we will become just another repost site and we would upset alot of content creators in the process.

Without people making content, there won’t be content. How many enthusiastic amateurs do you think would find the time and effort to learn Lemmy over let’s say FetLife to post here? I am doing what I do with love, but documenting and editing videos from my private life take hours per post. People who go to my platform are making it possible for other people to see part of it for free. If this wasn’t the case I would simply take more hours at my work and keep my private life private. I don’t see how that would benefit anybody.

We definitely appreciate all your doing! and ive reassured others as well that the admin team has not seriously blanket banning content creators, especially when they arent advertising in their posts ( some content creators were worried about how reddit subs banned creators who had a link in their bio)
