Front license plates affect aerodynamics and the look of a car.
The only reason I was able to catch the drunk driver who hit me was because of their front plate.

Yeah, because stamping a license plate is so so extremely expensive, compared to, you know, the rest of a friggin car.

That explains why they can’t just figure out who the guy is from the car’s plates even though they have a picture of the front of the car.
It’s still not that simple. The guy could just claim his car was missing or his similar looking friend borrowed the car.
