KUALA LUMPUR - More than 500 people from seafaring communities along the coast of Sabah state have been evicted from their homes this week as part of a Malaysian government crackdown on undocumented migrants, local activists said.
The country is basically that. Google ‘orang asli’ (original people in the native language) and the use of the word ‘pendatang’ (translation: immigrant) as it refers to the native non-malay population in racial politics.
I hate how the label “undocumented migrants” is slapped onto people who have lived there for longer than the concept of a nation state existed.
