Ok to be fair, last time I tried this out was like 4 years ago. Fuck Google for trying to force everyone to use their proprietary software
Edit: Did you use the native package from your distro? It might have some Google stuff removed. Maybe you would have more success with the Flatpak? https://flathub.org/apps/org.chromium.Chromium
Curious: what do you mean by “integrated”? I’m using Android and Firefox, and it was very simple to just install, login to enable sync, make it my default browser, etc. Chrome is never opened except for apps that don’t respect my default browser.
Huh. Curious regarding the resource point. I find it to be quite lean. 🤷♂️ It’s also possible to unload pages at will using an extension, too, which is good.
Realize that this is a small bubble and susceptible to group think. Don’t base your world view on Lemmy.
Are you telling me not everyone‘s using Firefox on Linux!?
I don’t even care about FOSS!
(Please don’t lynch me!)
Username checks out‽

I was like “is this fucking R*ddit?” when I read this blass femmy
I don’t even know what FOSS is.
Free & Open Source Software
Hey, thanks!
Nope, I’m using Chrome on Linux.
Blasphemy!
Sadly, it’s just too integrated and works too well with my mobile device, work stuff, etc. Everything else I use is open-source, I swear …
Excuses! Your punishment is 10 years of using Trisquel Linux with the non-free repos disabled.
Trisquel has a nonfree repo?
Dunno
SHUN
Genuine question: Couldn’t you use Chromium? It’s open source, and last time I tried it you could still log in to a Google account to sync your stuff
You’re right, I should give that another shot.
You can’t log into a Google account anymore.

I read Google documentation about how they removed it. I’m very sure that the option is not available.

Specific extensions and services. Plus, I’ve continued to find FF to be a resource hog.

Who hurt you (before Google)?
Mozilla
~12 people on here use Brave but whenever they speak up they get shouted at and banned.
Good riddance. /s
No! I’m using it on Android!
FTFY
I mean, technically, but that’s like calling Mac Unix.
I certainly don’t believe it.
Yah, if the people around me pearl-clutched as hard as Lemmings, I’d become a hermit.
