minus-squarePrehensile_cloaca linkfedilinkEnglish63•5 months agoPicked up the Bluray series off eBay. Physical media seems like the way to go, to really own anything
minus-square@[email protected]OPlinkfedilink27•5 months agoSame. Bummed that we’ll probably never get remasters of DS9 and Voyager.
minus-squareNegativeNullMlinkfedilink21•5 months agoThere is a nice DS9 upscaling project that is very good (not as good as a proper remaster, but still impressive). https://ds9redefined.wordpress.com/videos/ They only provide download instructions (sftp) via discord, unfortunately. (https://discord.gg/qTgXcG9T). It’s very large (300+ GB for the series). They are working on Voyager now.
minus-square@[email protected]linkfedilink12•5 months agoIirc, the studio(s) likely wouldn’t be able to do much better for Voyager as they didn’t record Voyager onto film like the others. They cheaped out and recorded direct to VHS
minus-square@[email protected]linkfedilink2•5 months ago direct to VHS No. Videotape, sure, but not VHS.
minus-square@[email protected]linkfedilink24•5 months ago Physical media seems like the way to go, to really own anything That or sailing the digital sea, which ig you could consider a bunch of DRM-free files on a drive you own to still be “physical media”
minus-square@TheKMAPlinkEnglish2•5 months agoDo you really think the automation governments use don’t understand euphemism. Just say piracy.
minus-square@[email protected]linkfedilinkEnglish12•5 months agoCounterpoint: Who cares, sailing the digital sea sounds cooler.
minus-square@[email protected]linkfedilink9•5 months agoDo you really think people say things like sailing the digital sea to avoid persecution? Just say whatever sounds cool to you
minus-square@[email protected]linkfedilink8•5 months ago… Ripped to a media server. It’ll be a cold day in hell before I can be arsed to stand up and put media into a machine anymore.
