I think Wolverine must work on the “dollar bill replacement” method. If you have 51% of the damaged bill, you’ll get a replacement.

So if you cut Wolverine in half, only the bigger half will grow back.

It’s the part with the brain. It’s also very hard to do when he has his adamantium.

However, it’s worth noting that the adamantium is toxic and his powers don’t work as well while they’re constantly fighting it, meaning non-metal Wolverine has regenerated from clumps of cells that no longer had a brain. This implies his mutation can both rebuild his entire body from scratch and that a brain isn’t necessary either, BUT the largest cluster still probably was the only active one, otherwise we would have had multiple Wolverines growing from the cell clusters that survived brain death, so, to me, the more interesting question is what happens if you eradicate his brain and then cut the remainder perfectly in half?

One must assume it would indeed result in Cloneverines. It’s only logical.

Not to mention the whole bones that can’t be broken because of the super strong metal.

So… pre bone infusion Wolverine maybe? Although if he lost an arm and it grew into a new person would they have a functioning brain?

For that matter, even if he didn’t, would a healed wolverine remember who he is if his brain suffered enough trauma?

Which opens up a Pandora’s box of issues such as CTE’s j side his encase skull. Sure his brain can heal that damage but the memories, etc would be gone right?

You’re right so in that case, a more realistic danger is that you can sufficiently cause him to lose his memory and then convince him that he’s fighting on your side when he heals enough but with no previous memories.

opens up a Pandora’s box of issues

        It sure does!

The Marvel series ‘Agent X’ actually addresses some of this with Deadpool fighting to regain his skills and memories after being nearly atomized.

Hmm, you’re making a good point and introducing two new not-yet-considered elements.

        1. Wolverine is only 5’3" (160cm) tall. Was he originally taller, but had a body destroying even, that only 80% of him was able to grow back rendering him shorter than he was before.

        2. Wolverine is Canadian. So neither the USA or Oz money rules apply, but instead Canadian rules. What those are, I do not now.

That did happen, however it was in the old Ultimate universe where powers can differ so might work differently in the main 616 universe.

He did that but because regrowing to himself was quicker than regrowing legs over a longer period of time and he had a Hulk to fight.

OK so what if Wolverine cut off his dick, and grew a new one back quickly, could he then cut off the head and attach the old dick to double its length? I’m wondering if he could extend his dick infinitely that way… could be a new superpower of the long dick whip weapon, terrifying to many of his enemies

Honestly probably but also I think his body has a like level it has to fill. I think it would reach his dick length and then grow the tip and stop

Aren’t souls canonically real in the Marvel universe? I expect that only the piece with the soul regenerates.

In Southern Germany, we have a food roughly like a baguette, called a “Seele”, which also happens to be the German word for “soul”.

So, in my headcanon, the guy ate a baguette and they split his stomach in half. 🙃

I mean, yeah. But there’s so many clones and time travelers and Multiple Man copies running around already that I don’t think TOAA or whoever is keeping track.

Wolverine is difficult because of his (unnatural) metal skeleton. So whatever is attached to the skeleton will regenerate. If you slice of the tip of his finger it will just die and he’ll grow a new finger, but if all that’s left is a tip of the finger clinging to the skeleton he’ll regenerate.

If you could cut through the adamantium skeleton, and the halves each regenerated, the regenerated portions wouldn’t have adamantium… So you’d have two half-adamantium Wolverines and a bunch of non-adamantium Wolverines.

My understanding is that it originates with the head (same with Deadpool). So if you cut off his head, a new body would regenerate from it and the old body just decays normally. Which still raises the question, what if you cut off his head and then cut the head in half?..

We need a Wolverine version of Multiplicity with Michael Keaton.

Strong crossover potential with Batman, Birdman and Vulture…

Wolverine, Batman, Birdman, and Vulture all have to be played by Michael Keaton.

        Wolverine cut themselves in half

        New Wolverine “I am Batman.”

Original Wolverine “Oh shit…I will have to try again.”

New, new Wolverine “I am the Vulture.”

Original Wolverine “Third time is the charm!”

New, new, new Wolverine “I am Birdman!”

        Original Wolverine “Ah fuck this.”

I know it’s a comic, but I’m always bothered by ultra extreme regeneration powers where the mass seems to come from nowhere. If Wolverine is burned down to little more than a skeleton, what is giving him the raw material to create regrown muscles?

Reminder before the Ultimate series of comics and the MCU Nick Fury was usually portrayed as white. Mind you whoever thought Samuel L Jackson should be Nick Fury was absolutely fucken right. So long as the actor is good you can do a lot to adapt.

It still bothers me 30 years later that in the DC vs Marvel, Wolverine beat Lobo… Shouldn’t have happened to someone that beat up Superman because a guy at a bar said he couldn’t…

usually with stories of regenerating parts, the hard requirement is whatever is attached to the head regenerates. For example, Namakien body regeneration in the Dragon Ball universe follows that logic.
