‘richest country in the world’; cant afford to help humans at their doorstep

    uh huh.

these conservatives are either malicious, ignorant or both. its weird talking to them. so many are so casual about the cruelty they support

It seems clear to me that it’s both and the cruelty is the point. Remember this lady?

“I voted for him, and he’s the one who’s doing this,” Minton told Mazzei. “I thought he was going to do good things. He’s not hurting the people he needs to be hurting.”

Well no country could afford to take in everyone north of the darian gap. Its just too many people.

There’s days to alleviate the pressures that are pushing these people North. Like but funding right wing death squads or not putting sanctions on countries that elect the ‘wrong leader’.

Yes, yes they should. Immigration is a boogeyman used to blame other people for issues that aren’t their fault.

            Nobody said anything about taxes.

We should make it easier for immigrants to pay tax regardless of status, otherwise we lose out on the tax revenue and create black markets and crime.

It’s the boogeyman. It’s like seeing the temperature rise and blaming the sun or w/e. Putting the blame on the wrong thing. Like sure there should be immigration restrictions of some kind but putting the blame on immigrants is stupid and the people who eat it up the morons.

The businesses are usually right leaning and support this view, yet the have no problem hiring illegal immigrants. They love to hire people at lowest wage.

Here is an image that depicts it.

            link

Deportations is also the wrong solution. People like it, but that’s stupid. People will just come back to the same employer or find someone else. It’s a side effect of capitalism.

You want to fix it, tax the business that hire illegal immigrants. Hell pay these illegal immigrants for ranting out their employeer. I guarantee you will have less illegal immigrants.

First, what’s the economic cost here? Immigration is not a net negative overall. Why spend trillions of dollars burning money to police one of the worlds largest borders other than to blow all of society’s resources on an impossibly stupid and unproductive task?

The irrational desire to punish children for misdemeanor crimes of parents should be seen as what it is: a mental disorder.

Children should never be punished. The road to documented status should be easier, regardless of citizenship options, and not lead to deportation.

In any republican solution to a problem…

Cruelty IS THE POINT. if a solution does not contain some suffering for someone… Then it’s not a good solution for a republican. For them no good can come WITHOUT SUFFERING.

The terrible secret is that immigrarion is the secret sauce behind “American Exceptionalism”

High recent immigrant populations essentially select for people willing to put in the extra effort to migrate, which is a close proxy for to things like “entrepeneurship” and “seeking out better education/opportunities for their children.”

Strong incentive to leave the country for recent immigrants, and if they stay and eventually legalize their status, they will be uneducated. So it’s a win win for conservatives.

Sometimes I look at the US and think how crazy conservative some of this stuff is. But then, this is just Swedish reality these days.

requiring public schools to collect data on immigration status when students enroll

The current Swedish government, consisting of liberals, conservatives, and the far right, want this to be reality. Well, even worse stuff really. They want it to be illegal for an employee in schools, libraries, and hospitals not to report a child and their family if they suspect they may have some problem with immigration. It is so disgusting.

You know what? The republicans are right; immigrants should leave. How about we start with white republican immigrants (or descendants thereof) of European ancestry, then we’ll reevaluate.
