This is why I set a timer for everything I do after smoking. Doesn’t matter if it’s 2 minutes, it gets a timer on my phone because I will absolutely forget to ________ otherwise.

Same. The amount of times I’ve let a whole crockpot full of chili go bad because I forgot to put it away is staggering.

Just turn it back on and let it cook on high for an hour or two again. Throwing homemade chili out is a sin.

I can’t count the number of times I’ve left something sit cold in the crockpot overnight and then ate it the next day after heating it on high for an hour or so. But I also licked cake batter from beaters growing up, so take my advice with a shaker of salt.

I used to eat raw home made cookie dough - raw eggs and all. What can I say, I like living on the edge.

More importantly make sure you have turned the damn thing on properly in the first place. I don’t even smoke anymore and it’s a problem.

Or just use a toaster oven with an auto shutoff timer (which is basically all of them). If you buy a decent one, it’ll get hot so fast that you don’t even have to preheat.

This exact thing happened to me 2 days ago haha

My oven beeps when it’s preheated but I somehow missed it. About 20 minutes later my wife points out the food is still sitting on the counter :)
