Inside the Capitol, reminders of the violence are increasingly hard to find.

Scars on the walls have been repaired. Windows and doors broken by the rioters have been replaced. And there is no plaque, display or remembrance of any kind.

Lawmakers rarely mention the attack, and many Republicans try to downplay it, echoing President-elect Donald Trump’s claims that the carnage of that day is overblown and that the rioters are victims.

I just can’t believe that Jan 6 ended up meaning absolutely nothing. Zero. We’re right back with Trump in the WH. Wild!

I can. The plan to gut education succeeded, as did the plan to prevent any meaningful regulations on internet privacy or advertising.

The Democrats are just as guilty as using paid online operatives using Persona Management Software who won’t say or admit that they are paid to promote these viewpoints. There is zero reason they don’t need a disclaimer saying they’re paid speech like TV, radio, and print ads require.

Neither party went out of their way to try to regulate any new media beyond enforcing copyrights, tools for which have been abused to censor free speech time and time again because the penalties for a false DMCA filing are minimal and hard to make stick.

Meanwhile Hillary Clinton was trying to ban GTA San Andreas because of the Hot Coffee mod. Way more important issue, I’m sure. /s

And good grief, even in this AP article, they keep calling them “rioters”.

And yeah, I’m not all that surprised, either. The right-wing clutching their pearls when it was called an insurrection (which is putting it mildly) by the milquetoast media and constantly whining about antifa and BLM peaceful marches.

I often think of the families of those who died during the attack. Can you imagine the horror of seeing the man who ordered your loved one killed reelected president? Not to mention the nausea of knowing that statistically half the people you interact with everyday voted him back in. Half the country virtually spitting in your face every day…

Kind of how I feel about my Trumpster in-laws. “Yeah, your support of this guy and his actions are literally costing you your access to ever teaching your grandkids anything.” They don’t care. They prioritize Trump. That’s the world we live in.

Told my mom that about her sister. Like sorry you want to be close to your sister in her old age, but her vote may literally have killed me. If they manage to get rid of the ACA, there’s a good chance I won’t be able to afford my insanely costly cancer meds and will die in incredible suffering from the disease in my forties.

I told her that if I ever saw her sister I wouldn’t hesitate to read her the riot act and tell her she’s a worthless fuckup who prioritized a half dead orange monkey over the needs of her children, grandchildren, and extended family.

Pretty safe to assume that half or more of the people who didn’t vote would have voted for Trump if they did vote.

        • Suppose I set up a sample tasting stand with ‘Unflavored Jello’ and ‘Vomit Flavored Jello’

No one should be surprised when a significant portion of passersby don’t stop to taste either

Suppose half of the people who do stop to taste choose the vomit flavor

It wouldn’t make sense for me to say:

Statistically speaking, half the people you interact with every day would eat vomit flavored Jello

Anecdotally, everyone I know who didn’t vote has nothing but bad things to say about Trump

I’m sure the qons would love to have it purged from history. Memory-holed, Orwell-style.
