NFL used to be the only sport I watched. Back in the day, you could see some crazy shit, about every game. For the last two decades every play is a formula. I mean, you already know what the play’s going to be and how it’s likely to work out. Boring as paste.
Anyone even know what a “flea flicker” is anymore?
Ah yeah American sports are just about entertainment and maintaining a statue quo that benefits only the rich
A Hilarious perfect fit for the ultra-capitalist dunghole where no improvement is allowed because it may damage our profits, we dare not risk ourselves because our clique is safe
Meanwhile, soccer is so competitive you literally bring people from the jungle because they’re physically perfect for playing good, and teams can exist in literal villages and still win cups
My wife and I always get a kick out of it when sports commentators say things that are just stupidly obvious. I think the best one so far was “if you want to win you gotta win.”
I think that was Joe Buck during a Jets game but I’m not positive.
My favourite are the overly specific records. “Joe Bob has recently broke the record for most points in the first game after a knee surgery with 4 points. The last record holder was John Jock who scored 3 points after a knee surgery in 1987.”
I love the variations of “you’ve got to score goals if you want to win the game”.
Also in football/soccer when a player scores a goal despite the keeper getting a hand to the ball; “the keeper has made a mistake there, he really needs to keep the ball out”.
I don’t know sports at all but I do know Joe Buck makes some stupid ass comments. Pretty sure he’s notorious for it.
Edit: Ah yes, this is where I know him from: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9uoACQyN_mM
Hooray sportsball.
