The government can demand unpublished journalism materials, and CBS has the right to tell them to fuck off, which they would if they have any integrity left.
The cost for integrity in an authoritarian system is very very high.
We can’t expect them to have integrity until we are willing to be in the streets.

If the interview was broadcast, there must be video recordings, so what is the big deal about unedited transcripts? They can watch the video and see what she said.

I mean, I don’t know the details of the thing here, but their authority really extends just over what goes out over the air. I don’t think that they have any special authority over the inner workings of companies, just because they happen to be in the news business.
