No, not as good as I want to be. But I think this one is pretty good. Looking back I think the first one looks the closest so maybe I’m trying too hard?

Though coming from never painting a real person before I’m pretty happy overall.

Droporain (no idea how to tag people) asked for a young Sammy. This is him! Sort of, he’s probably in his 40s here.

I’ve been watching you post these since #1. I can say that I enjoy all of them, but it sure looks like you are getting more comfortable with what you’re doing. This #5 feels more like you have proportions and shading much more focused, and dialed in.

Painting portraits of people is hard work, especially famous people. Humans in general focus on pattern recognition and the things we see a lot of are peoples faces, so humans tend to be “good” at finding flaws when something doesn’t look quite right. Don’t let this discourage you. This is looking great. Keep it up.

Thank you, and you’re totally right! I’ve avoided it for 40+ years. Guess it’s time to get good at it.

This really reads well and I think it is great the way it is. The hyper realistic stuff is way too much for me even if I can appreciate their skill.

Thank you! I’m not a big fan of the super realistic either. The proportions aren’t quite right yet and the expression reads different to me. I’ll keep working on it!

Can I paint Samuel L. Jackson?

If he consents to it, I’m not going to judge but he probably has a bit of a busy schedule. Maybe go with a Dragonball or something to make good use of the baldness.

perhaps the reason #1 stands out is because it has a unique eye shape and they feel like the focus of the piece. this one is very close though, love it!

I like this one. He feels very himself in the painting! I like watching these paintings, thank you.
