You remember that abomination that was Aladdin (2019)? The actor who played Jafar wasn’t even scary, and IMO Jason Mantzoukas would have nailed it and made the movie a little more tolerable to watch.
I saw that in theaters because me and a couple friends thought it might be good/fun or whatever, but the movie ended up just being okay. It’s just another thing that exists.
That’s pretty much all the live action Disney remakes. Like, they’re certainly movies, but that’s about it.
I’m actually on the fence about the Lilo & Stitch remake.
On one hand, the aliens (including Stitch) don’t look fun or appealing in the slightest, and downright look creepy. Jumba and Pleakley are likely going to be in their “human disguises” for most of the movie, and Bubbles’ character is entirely different from what it used to be.
On the other hand, it looks like they’ll be adding more to the story in the way of extra scenes and it might lean even more into Hawaiian culture and representation than the original did, which I’m somewhat interested in seeing.
