I think we can all agree that the 2 million food insecure, poverty stricken residents of the Gaza strip have had it too good when it comes to their ability to immigrate to the United States the same way literally anyone else does, if they can get past the Israeli blockade and actually reach America. A much needed policy proposal to take them down a peg.

I mean it’s simple hate…he only has hate and self serving. Think about it, it’s all different flavors of hate.

Does he even hate? I feel like he doesn’t think about other people long enough to actually hate anyone. He just says what he thinks will get his supporters all lathered up, and if that means being a bigot, then by golly he’s going to be a bigot.

Fair point…I guess in reality he is using hate in various flavors to rile up folks who are hateful, but as for Trump he is just using hate like he uses everything else.

Not that that’s better in any way. Functionally, hate is hate. Whether he believes it in his heart, or merely regurgitates it because he likes bigots, it doesn’t make him a better person either way.

Yup. He’s a pathological liar who likely doesn’t have an actual personality.

Supporting Israel no matter what and giving taxes breaks to the wealthy…

Just a few things Republicans and “moderate” Dems always tend to agree on

What was the last tax break the Dems passed for the wealthy?

Genuinely, I’m curious. The last major tax revision was under Trump. Under Biden, new taxes have generally been targeted at corporations and the wealthy.

He is almost certain to be the Republican candidate for president. Ignore your enemy at your peril because he could be president and it won’t be possible to ignore him then.

There’s a line between “keeping an eye on your enemy” and giving them a free permanent platform and we keep doing the latter. His whole strategy is saying deranged, reactionary things just to stay on the front page rent free and this is playing into that. This is a man who lies constantly, doesn’t believe in what he says, and will either forget about it a week later or deny it.

Are you worried this will bring more support to him?

I feel that the more people know about him then the less they will support him/the more will go out to vote against him

He was the president, everyone knows him. I’m saying stop giving him a platform and focus on things about him that do matter that aren’t under his control that don’t play into his playbook.

By his loyal followers? I’m well aware. But I’m also aware that normalizing this kind of speech in the media by blasting it constantly has shifted Americans’ views on what kind of rhetoric is acceptable in this political climate.

But seriously don’t forget to vote, because Republicans are fucking Nazis who will dismantle all pretense of democracy and civil rights if given the opportunity.

Judge Cannon is doing her level fucking best to drag her feet until Trump can pardon himself, and then she can Jim the camera, shrug, and say “hey, that’s justice for you”

Who actually takes seriously the idea that self-pardoning is even a thing? I don’t think it should ever be mentioned without pointing out what a batshit crazy idea it is.

Ok I really hate being that guy but if this happens you know that someone is going to make the argument that it is technically not in the writing. Especially since this is a common conservative trick, text only.

and he shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offences against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment.

Nothing in there about self-pardoning. Watch as they try this.

Oh I’m sure they will, but I think anyone engaging with the issue in good faith will conclude that a it’s implicit in the word “pardon” that it’s something you do for someone else, and the authors of the Constitution would have forbidden self pardoning if it had occurred to them that anyone would twist their words in that particular way.

I just don’t want the idea to become normalized, because then people will start to just accept it without thinking about whether it makes sense.
