Recommendations for RaspberryPI 4B case?
Hiya, so I have a spear RaspberryPI 4b, and want to selfhosted HomeassistantOS on it, heard there were some advantages of running the full OS and not just the docker container. However I currently don’t have a casing for it.
So: Is there anything I should know before buying one? Does the rpi get very hot running HomeassistantOS? E.g. Do I need one of these cases with a fan built into it? Or is it OK without?
Appreciate any tips or suggestions! however I will not order anything from Amazon or Ali Express or any of those type of websites. Feel free to recommend via them though as I might find the same case elsewhere, perhaps.

Do you have a 3D printer?
i use this and i don’t feel like having any kind of trouble, but on my pi i only have music, rss feed and rss bridges so my usage is pretty lightweight
I am using the Cooler master one, e.g. article here https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/cooler-master-pi-case-40-review
That one however makes the GPIO pretty unusable, so yours seems better.
I am using Jellyfin and Immich on mine mostly, it is rare that the PI gets hotter than 50-55°C. Don’t know if that’s good since I have no point of comparison. It took a long time at 100% load which got the temperature up to 70°C, but that was just once when I made the mistake giving Photoprism my whole photo library at once.
Personally running an Argon Neo on the pi 4, zero complaints. Flirc is better looking by half (imho), but the Neo out performs it thermally (with the cover off, at least the articles I read claimed as much when I was looking).
I’m running it as a pihole/jellyfin&servarr passively cooled with zero problems.
Edit, one complaint: I sometimes regret not setting up NVME support, instead I have the OS on a USB SSD. That, a USB HDD, an ethernet cable, and USB keyboard mouse makes the IO a little crowded.
