Summary

McDonald’s locations in Altoona, Pennsylvania, and Altoona, Iowa, were flooded with false 1-star reviews after the arrest of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson’s suspected killer at an Altoona, PA, McDonald’s.

Users posted claims of rats, poor service, and references to the employee who reported the suspect.

Some reviews mocked the arrest, calling the location “Narc-donalds” and joking about the staff’s actions.

The surge in reviews appears to be a mix of humor and criticism tied to the high-profile arrest.

I guess that McDonald’s is gonna see a sharp decline in customer volume now which is already probably low since it was like 8 bucks for a sausage, egg, and cheese McMuffin meal the last time I went a few months ago.

You vastly overestimate how closely the average person is following this story, or is willing to change their behavior for events like this. Especially in a place like Altoona, Pennsylvania.

I was wondering if the person who turned him in has been following the overwhelming sense of support for what he did.

Basically, did they think about that before doing anything, or did they not give it a second thought because they didn’t realize there could be a backlash?

In the last couple months, McDonald’s has:

        • Allowed Trump to pretend to work there for a photo op that boosted his likeability with poor workers
        • Had an E. coli outbreak that was twice as big as the Chipotle outbreak that dominated news cycles a few years ago
        • Ratted out the modern day Robinhood

The average consumer doesn’t give a fuuuuuuuuuuuccck.

Even in Europe everyone I know is following this story.

I’ll bet they’ll almost all boycott that McDonald’s location, I’ll bet that location doesn’t see a single one of those Europeans after this

You also vastly underestimate how much burgerlanders love their McDonald’s.

Look I’m sad they found him too, and fuck the people who turned him in, but no good will come from burning down the inanimate building where the caught him.

It would be a dispersion of the energies created by his act into a useless thing. Not to mention you might end up killing some people in the process; more or less innocent people. So can we tone it down a notch.

I don’t think they want the identity of the rat getting out. I’m willing to bet that there are plenty of people who really want to publicly remind everybody that snitches get stitches. Word on the street is that this rat can suddenly afford a $60k hospital bill, unlike UHC customers whose claims get denied every day.

You’re right, of course, burning down a building would be pointless.

I hope that everything is well with the McDonald’s CEO and that he’s safe and happy.

It’s McDonald’s. The staff was already suffering.

Bet everyone who works there knows who the snitch is.

For $60k it could be anyone. That’d probably be double the manager’s yearly income, and more than anyone else’s there.

You know, I looked it up and their rating is still over 3/5 stars. I wonder what that means.

Companies have policies against brigading. They will either remove or will not count these reviews. Google already clarified this I think.
