/u/porn was active here briefly, make a load of communitiess like /c/Boobs and has since not been on, leaving those communities unmoderated. I’ve messaged them about being added to some of them (like they offered), but no reply.

I think the larger communities, at least, should have more than one moderator to cover different timezones, being unavailable or disappearing. I assume that admins can add moderators to comms, right?

My point is that only /u/porn (or an admin?) can add another moderator to their subs, and given that they’re not on we already have popular comms without mods.

I think if you start a community here, you should at least add a few posts to get the ball rolling and then stick around to moderate and/or build a mod team.

I think for this you really need to rope in the admins to create a system for installing moderators to unmoderated communities. That, however, can only happen once there are enough active mods on the site to begin with, which will take time.

I’m not sure we need a system yet, I’m just saying we should address the few communities we have that are effectively unmoderated yet active.

I’m hoping/assuming the admins see this, because we’ll need them to do this.

Hm maybe in the future to surpass this issue, the requirement to open a community should be to nominate at least 1-2 additional moderators? 🤔 And without that a community can’t be created?
